BOAT DONATION

United Yokefellow Ministry encourages donations of boats and equipment in good condition to support our mission. Through your donation you realize an income tax deduction for the charitable contribution since United Yokefellow Ministry Inc. was incorporated under Article 9 New York Religious Corporation law and is tax exempt under section 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) of the Internal Revenue Code as a charitable organization. Contributions to the ministry qualify as income tax return under section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.

The Following is the Procedure:


United Yokefellow Ministry Approval- Contact United Yokefellow Ministry at (305)
491-6788 and discuss the gift. We will most likely inspect the boat and equipment to determine that it is suitable for donation.

Establish Fair Market Value- After approval, it is necessary to establish the value of your gift.
(See IRS Publication No.561 “Determining the Value of Donated Property”).

The following are the abbreviated IRS instructions for your gift according to the value.


a)  $500.00 or under- (no extra IRS form required)
b)  More than $500.00 to $5000.00 (per item)- Fill out and sign section A of IRS Form 8283
c)  More than $5000.00 per item- Obtain a written appraisal from a qualified appraiser (fee is
also deductible). Donor, the appraiser and United Yokefellow Ministry sign IRS form 8283
(section B, Part I, II. III, and IV).


NOTE:   Donor must enter donors name and identifying number or SSN on top of page 2 of form 8283 and
mail to UYM Charities P.O. Box 12 Hampton Bays, N.Y. 11946


United Yokefellow Ministry, in all cases above, will provide the donor Copies B and C of IRS Form 1098-C and submit Copy A of IRS Form 1098-C with Form 1096 to the IRS as required, for the annual limit on charitable contributions and information on carry-over of contributions, please refer to IRS Publication No. 526, “Charitable Contributions” or consult with your tax advisor.
NOTE:   In all cases the Boat will be held in the Ministry name for a period of three years as required by the IRS.


Transfer of Ownership to United Yokefellow Ministry, this is accomplished by signing a “Deed of Gift” form (State Motor Vehicle Statement of Transaction form DTF-802) and your transferable registration or title . After this is performed, United Yokefellow Ministry assumes responsibility for the Boat, including maintenance, storage and relocation.
